Car Insurance Cadillac (Car Insurance). How much would it cost to tune a 93si hatchback with a b18c1 vtec motor? ?

How much would it cost to tune a 93si hatchback with a b18c1 vtec motor? ?

To do it your self, about $50 bucks. To have the dealer do it, about $300. To have an independent mechanic do it, about $125 Best option here is to sell all of the honda stuff you have and buy a mid to late 80's bmw 325is and turbo it. It will sound better, have more horsepower, look better, handle better, be better..... These are all just opinions, but I just thought I'd give you some ideas. :)

Cadillac . How to Change Brake Rotors in a Subaru

Your Subaru brakes work by hydraulic pressure. Fluid is pushed through solid brake lines. The fluid is forced through a caliper. Inside the caliper is a piston that pushes against a brake pad which then pushes against the brake rotor. This causes the rotor (and the Subaru) to slow down. Unfortunately, all of that friction will damage the rotor over time. This is normal, but eventually you will have to change the rotors in your Subaru when they become scored.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Socket wrench with socket set Zip-ties New brake rotors Tire wrench Jack with 2 jack stands Shop rag Brake parts cleaner Thread locker Torque wrench

Step by Step :
1
Loosen the lug nuts by turning them 1/4 turn counterclockwise with a tire wrench.
2
Lift up the Subaru using the front jack point. Place the floor jack under the the Subaru, and jack up on the front jack point.
3
Then, place the jack stands under the frame in the front of the vehicle and lower the Subaru onto the jack stands.
4
Finish removing the lug nuts and then pull the wheel off the wheel hub assembly.
5
Remove the upper and lower caliper mounting bolts holding the caliper in place.
6
Pull the caliper off the rotor and secure it with zip ties to the coil springs above the brake assembly.
7
Pull the rotor off the hub assembly.
8
Insert a new brake rotor and reassemble the brake system. Assembly is the reverse of dis-assembly.
9
Spray the brake assembly with brake parts cleaner.

Step by Step :
10
Put the wheel back on, lower the vehicle to the ground, and do a final tightening of the lug nuts to 100 ft lbs with a torque wrench.
Tips & Warnings
Add a small amount of thread locker to the threads on the caliper mounting bolts when reassembling the brake system to help prevent the bolts from loosening during normal braking.

Cadillac . How to Change the Brakes on a Mercedes C280

Brakes in your Mercedes C280 (and in any other car) are an important safety component. Most people take them for granted, but there is actually a unique, yet simple, system that allows the Mercedes brakes to work. Hydraulic fluid is forced through hard steel brake lines. The fluid is then carried to a caliper, which contains a piston. The caliper piston is actuated by hydraulic pressure. The piston pushes against the brake pad, which pushes against the brake rotor. This causes the Mercedes to slow down and stop. Over time, the brake pad material wears thin from contact friction with the brake rotor. Eventually, when the pad material is 1/8 inch thick, you'll need to replace the brakes.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Socket wrench with socket set Rubber mallet Zip-ties C-clamp Screwdrivers (flat head and Phillips head) New brake pads and rotors Tire wrench 3 ton jack with 2 jack stands Shop rag Brake parts cleaner Thread locker Torque wrench

Step by Step :
1
Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel by turning them 45 degrees counterclockwise with a tire wrench.
2
Place the floor jack underneath the front jack point, which is located near the radiator, and jack up on the Mercedes.
3
Place a jack stand under each of the front pinch welds, located under the front doors, and lower the Mercedes onto the stands.
4
Continue removing the lug nuts and then remove the wheel.
5
Remove the top and bottom caliper mounting bolts.
6
Pull the brake caliper off the rotor and secure it to the coil springs with zip ties.
7
Remove the brake pads. You may have to tap them out with a rubber mallet as over time, the pad may embed itself into the caliper.
8
Push the caliper piston back into the caliper. To do this, place the face of one of the pads over the caliper piston and apply pressure to it using a c-clamp.
9
Insert the new pads into the caliper and reassemble the brake caliper assembly.

Step by Step :
10
Mount the wheels on the hub assembly, tighten them, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to 100 foot-lbs with a torque wrench.
Tips & Warnings
Use a small amount of thread locker on the threads of the caliper mounting bolts when reassembling the brake caliper. This will help to secure the bolts and prevent them from coming loose during hard braking.

Manual Transmissions Whether your car has an automatic transmission or a manual (sometimes called standard) transmission, you should understand how a manual trans mission works. The principles involved are fairly simple, and an automatic transmission does basically the same things, just without a manual clutch and with less manual shifting. What a manual transmission consists of This section takes a look at each major part of a manual transmission. I covered most of them in the drive train section earlier in this chapter. This section should put them into closer perspective. The gearshift The gearshift can be located on the steering column or on the floor in front of, or between, the front seat(s). Older cars designed for the general market used to have shifts with three forward speeds located on the steering column (very old cars had a two-foot gearshift located in front of the driver). Then sportier models with four forward speeds emerged. The gearshift in these cars was located on the floor, which gave rise to the term "four on the floor." Today, most vehicles with manual transmissions have floor shifts with five forward speeds. And some sports cars have standard gearboxes with six forward speeds.

The clutch You use the clutch when you start, stop, and shift gears. In each case, you step on the clutch pedal with your left foot to disengage the clutch disk from the flywheel so that the engine's crankshaft can turn independently of the transmission's input shaft. Otherwise, if you attempted to shift gears without using the clutch, the gears in the transmission would rotate at different speeds and would clash and break their teeth. The clutch consists of several major parts, each of which is listed here (refer to Figure 9-1 to see where these parts are). The section "Taking Care of Your Clutch" in Chapter 17 provides instructions for dealing with many of them. The clutch pedal is located on the floor of the car to the left of the brake pedal. The clutch pedal is connected to the clutch release lever via linkage. Sometimes a cable is used; most newer cars use hydraulic components. Chapter 9: Take the Drive Train: Understanding Transmissions... 17 3 0 The clutch disk, as you saw in the earlier drive train section, moves back and forth to connect and disconnect the engine from the transmission.

0 The clutch pressure plate clamps the clutch disk against the engine's flywheel when the clutch pedal is not applied. The pressure plate releases its force and pulls away from the clutch disk when you depress the clutch pedal. 0 The throw-out bearing is linked to the clutch pedal and activates the release levers that move the pressure plate back and forth. After you have the engine going at its new speed (or going at all), you release the clutch pedal to bring the clutch disk into contact with the flywheel again. The friction material on the clutch disk causes them to grab each other lovingly and turn at the same rate once more. The gears The transmission contains the gears and responds to messages from the gearshift and the clutch. The gears are actually metal wheels with notches on the rims that allow them to mesh with one another (see Figure 9-4). Originally, the gears in most manual transmissions were moved into and out of mesh with each other by the gearshift lever. In modern vehicles, the gears are always in mesh and only the synchronizers move, causing a change in power flow.
